Automotive Service Technology
This program is designed to prepare students for employment and/or specialized training in the automobile industry. This program focuses on broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the automotive industry: planning, management, finance, technical and product skills, underlying principles of technology, labor issues, community issues and health, safety, and environmental issues. The program consists of 1800 hours and is a planned sequence of instruction consisting of nine occupational completion points (OCPs)
- In order to be a full program completer, students must complete all nine OCPs and score a minimum of 10.0 in math and 9.0 in reading and language on the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE).
- Admission Policy: Student must be 16 years of age or older and not currently enrolled in another Miami-Dade County Public School. Students must score a minimum of 6.0 on the TABE.
- Refund Policy: Before the start of class – full tuition refund. Within first 14 days – 50% tuition refund. After 14 days – no refund.
Classes are offered at the Southwest Adult Education Center – Main Campus
